A Word from Our CEO

An Overview of Who We Are

I am honored to share with you the vision and mission that drive the Hunter Family Foundation. At the heart of our efforts is a simple yet profound commitment: to “help others do well.” We firmly believe that education is a powerful catalyst for individuals seeking to improve their lives and realize their full potential.

A primary focus at the Hunter Family Foundation is to assist individuals in continuing their college education. Higher education equips students with critical skills and opportunities, enabling them to contribute positively to their communities and break the cycle of marginalization. We understand that for many, pursuing a college degree is a formidable challenge filled with financial barriers. This is where our foundation steps in, striving to make education accessible and attainable for those who need it most.

In today's climate, supporting education is more crucial than ever. We are witnessing an unprecedented assault on educational opportunities, particularly affecting those who rely on them to uplift themselves from disadvantaged positions. Economic disparities and other systemic challenges threaten to widen the gap, leaving marginalized individuals with fewer resources to advance their education and better their lives.

The Hunter Family Foundation is committed to working with partner organizations to combat these issues. We believe that by investing in education, we are investing in a brighter, more equitable future for everyone.

What's New in our Community

ree

In January of 2025, the Hunter Family Foundation launched our first God Always Provides (G.A.P.) Scholarship for students in enrolling in their spring semester at Calumet College of St. Joseph. With a $5,000 endowment, we were able to assist one of their students pay their outstanding balance in order to register for their courses for the semester. Thank you to all of our generous donors for your contributions towards our mission. We also launched a partnership with the Quad County Urban League in February of 2025. We are excited to collaborate with them on their educational programming to amplify their impact on students as they enter and matriculate through their post-secondary journeys.

Support Our Degrees Matter Campaign

Like Books & Black Lives, Degrees Still Matter

“Education, then, beyond all other divides of human origin, is a great equalizer of conditions of men—the balance wheel of the social machinery”

-Horace Mann (1848, as cited in Education and Social Inequity, n.d.)

It is our belief as a Foundation centered on helping others do well that quality education directly contributes to people’s wellness. We envision a future where people have the ability to make a positive impact in their families and communities and know from experience that education is key to seeing that become a reality.

That’s why we are committed to helping students receive the degrees they earned by paying the outstanding balances of graduating students who are experiencing financial hardships keeping them from their diplomas.

Support our first annual “Degrees Matter” campaign by purchasing one of our message tshirts or donating directly to the campaign.

All profits and donations will go to fund our payment of student outstanding balances at our Board’s alma maters: Calumet College of St. Joseph, Purdue University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Howard University.
